**friendship** with the **world**
means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a
friend of the world becomes an **enemy of God**. [5](# "ref") Or do you think Scripture says without reason
that he **jealously longs** for the **spirit**

That is why Scripture says:
“God **opposes** the **proud**

**kicking about** in your **blood**,
and as you **lay** there in your blood

what is contrary to the **Spirit**,
and the Spirit what is **contrary** to the flesh. They are in **conflict** with each other,

that leads to **salvation** and leaves **no regret**,
